Sequence Board Game Strategy

Sequence is a combination card and board game. Pictures of miniature cards, totaling two complete decks, are located on the game board. There are also two complete and matching decks of cards. Players draw a card from the deck, which designates what spaces they can play on the board. They must then select a space on the board on which to mark their play. The final goal to to get rows of four tokens on the board.

Make a plan

Make a plan that does not rely on drawing just one card. Since there is an element of luck to the game, there is a chance you may never get "the" card you are looking for. Work in multiple areas of the board, and work in areas where there are multiple possibilities for completing a run.

Take time to think it through

Take time during each turn or round to think through the plan. Taking the time to really look at the board and reevaluate the game play and your personal gaming situation allows you more flexibility to create a plan that leads you to the win more quickly.

Group chips

Group chips together in several areas in the center of the board so that they can grow in multiple directions and into each other. This allows you to build on both ends of each line to complete the game.

Planning the game carefully from beginning to end and taking time to alter the plan of play multiple times during the course of the game can ensure success and victory. Use these steps to get started, and then develop a more advanced strategy of your own.
